Membership
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42
God’s will for each of us is to have a healthy relationship with Him and with His family. At St. Michael’s our spiritual health is marked by our commitment to the following:
Regular Sunday Morning Worship Attendance
Regular attendance at worship keeps us in right relationship with God and aids a proper understanding of God and His Word. Learn more about what to expect when you visit.
Common Prayer Groups (CPG’s)
This is the primary way members of St. Michael’s do “life together” in Christian community and have three primary purposes:
Strengthening our Spiritual Lives
Anglicans have a rich heritage of prayer and devotion given to us in the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). Members of CPG’s grow in their prayer lives using the BCP, utilizing one of the 4 Daily Offices together (morning prayer, afternoon prayer, evening prayer, or compline). All groups read through the same book of the Bible - allowing for deep parish-wide spiritual formation. Groups also participate in intercessory prayer for each other - both in person and throughout the week.
Deepening our Relationships with Each Other
CPG’s are places for church members to build significant, substantial, and encouraging friendships. Members of CPG’s “break bread” together - whether through a meal or a cup of coffee. Groups take time to intentionally connect with each other - through conversation and history sharing, which leads to deeper and more meaningful relationships.
Growing a Culture of Evangelism
Our Christian faith should translate into loving and blessing our neighbors. CPG’s are encouraged to think like missionaries. CPG members are encouraged to invite a friend, family member, co-worker, or neighbor to join the group at any time with the understanding that while many may be uncomfortable walking into a church, they are more open to joining a group for conversation, food, and prayer.
Ministry Involvement
We believe a major part of fulfilling your God-given purpose is through serving others within the parish. This strengthens others and is also a wonderful way to receive—to receive community, to receive training, and to receive the blessings that come when we use our gifts to worship the living God. Each one of us has different strengths, and at St. Michael’s we have many different opportunities to get involved putting those passions to work. Financial Stewardship
As Christians we thank God for the strength to earn an income by offering back to Him our firstfruits or 10% tithe. For many, 10% is a hard level of giving to achieve, and at St. Michael’s we encourage families to prayerfully do their best and commit to this goal over time. The St. Michael’s budget is shared at the annual parish meeting, which usually takes place in September.
