Our Call to Serve the World

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to proclaim good news to the poor… liberty to the captives… sight to the blind… to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” Luke 4:18-19

The mission of St. Michael’s is not only to gather for worship but to go out—to love, serve, and proclaim Christ in our neighborhoods, our city, and the world.

Jesus sends His Church outward:

  • to make disciples,

  • to care for the vulnerable,

  • and to bring God’s hope to places of need.

We encourage every member to take part in this outward-facing life, and we offer many ways to serve.

Local Outreach & Community Presence

Milwaukee Rescue Mission

Milwaukee Rescue Mission serves neighbors who are hurting in body, mind, and spirit. Founded in 1893, it provides meals, shelter, education, long-term recovery programs, job training, and spiritual care.

St. Michael’s partners with MRM by:

  • offering regular financial support

  • serving lunch on Saturdays throughout the year

  • praying for their staff and guests

Summer Community Party (Touch-a-Truck)

Each June, we host a large community event with:

  • Touch-a-Truck vehicles

  • free snow cones & family activities

  • hospitality and conversation with our neighbors

Volunteers serve through prayer, set-up and grounds management, welcoming guests, and simply being present. It’s one of our most joyful ways to bless our community.

Men’s & Women’s Events

Throughout the year, our men’s and women’s ministries host events intentionally designed for inviting friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family.

  • Men: “Men. Meat. Jesus.”
Fellowship, great food, and a guest speaker offering encouragement for daily life.

  • Women: We host an Annual Winter Tea—a warm, elegant gathering that brings women of the parish and community together for conversation and fellowship. We also offer the Women’s Read, a classical-fiction reading and discussion group that meets on third Fridays throughout the school year, providing a space to enjoy literature and thoughtful conversation in good company.

These events are simple, relational, and easy on-ramps for those desiring more connection and community.

Shared Table, Open Doors

Bench & Table is the outward-facing ministry of St. Michael’s, focused on creating a space where our neighbors feel welcomed, known, and cared for. Through classes in the arts and trades, educational and community events, and hospitable gatherings, Bench & Table connects parish life with the needs of the wider community—offering a warm, relational entry point for anyone seeking friendship, support, or simply a place to belong. Coming in 2026!

We invest an additional 10% to support church planting and the ministry of the Upper Midwest Diocese.

Our Missions Committee meets monthly to:

  • review new partnership requests

  • build relationships with missionaries

  • help parishioners find ministries to support personally

Below are our current partners:
