Go Out

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luke 4:18-19

God calls each of us to “go out” into the world and make disciples of all nations in addition to a clear and consistent message to serve the needy amongst us. The Church is meant to serve the needs of her community - body, mind, and soul. We desire for all members to be involved in outreach in some capacity, and we have many places to volunteer.

Parenting the Love and Logic Way

Our Love and Logic community parenting classes are taught by our Director of Children’s Ministry. We utilize volunteers from our parish to meet childcare needs for those in attendance and for our bi-annual banquets for alumni meant to encourage parents to continue on in the hard and important work of raising children.

Milwaukee Rescue Mission

Milwaukee Rescue Mission exists to share God’s love by caring for those who are poor in body, mind and spirit, to see lives transformed through Christ to hope, joy and lasting productivity. In existence since 1893, the Mission offers short- and long-term practical assistance, transformative programs, education, job training, treatment, spiritual enrichment and more. St. Michael’s is proud to partner with the Milwaukee Rescue Mission with financial support and through regularly serving lunch to the poor on Saturdays throughout the year.

Summer Party (Touch-a-Truck)

Every June, St. Michael’s hosts a big “Touch-a-Truck” party for our community. We welcome our neighbors with free snow cones, fun activities, lots of super cool trucks, and share a family environment of love and care that our parish exudes. There are places for all members to get involved - whether through prayer, grounds management, or wandering around in conversation with our guests.

Mens/Womens Events

Twice a year, the men’s and women’s ministries each host events meant for our members to invite in their friends, neighbors, and family. “Men. Meat. Jesus.” is held twice a year and involves a great slab of meat, beer, and time for fellowship paired with a speaker meant to encourage men in their daily lives. “Life Lessons for Women” does something similar on Saturday mornings with brunch and hot drinks.

Ministry Partners

One tangible way St. Michael’s “goes out” is by devoting 10% of our budget to mission groups outside of our local church. Beyond this 10% commitment we also invest another 10% in support of planting new churches and the ministry of the Upper Midwest Diocese. Below is a list of individuals and organizations with which St. Michael’s partners. We aim for a balance of ministries targeting local, national, and international impact. The Missions Committee would be happy to connect you with any ministries you wish to consider supporting personally. The Missions Committee meets monthly and reviews requests for support on an ongoing basis.
