Literature Guild

Reading Well. Thinking Deeply. Cultivating Virtue.

Stories shape the way we see — and the way we live.

The Literature Guild gathers around great works of fiction, memoir, poetry, and drama, reading with attention and speaking with care. We come not simply to analyze, but to be formed: to stretch the moral imagination, to refine our loves, and to grow in wisdom together.

In the company of longing, doubt, sacrifice, wisdom, love, and redemption, we learn to see God, ourselves, our neighbors, and the world more clearly.

We are not reading “Christian books.” We are reading good books — and bringing our Christian faith honestly to the conversation.

The Women’s Read and The Men’s Read

Thoughtful conversation. Beautiful books. Shared formation.

The Men’s and Women’s Reads gather adults of all ages to read substantial works of literature together and engage in rich discussion. Our aim is not tidy answers, but meaningful reflection.

Our Ethos

  • We read with attention.

  • We listen generously to each other.

  • We sit with hard questions together.

Books are chosen for literary excellence, moral depth, and lasting relevance. Some selections may be explicitly Christian; others may not — but all are worth engaging as Christians.

This is not a book club for light escape nor is the goal analysis or expertise. Rather it’s a circle for people who want to think deeply and grow wisely towards Christ.

Reader’s Theater

Literature heard aloud. Stories brought to life.

We are developing a Reader’s Theater initiative that will bring selected works to life through dramatic readings.

Reader’s Theater is not a full stage production.
It is attentive, expressive reading — allowing language, character, and dialogue to carry the power of the story.

In the months ahead, we will experiment with small gatherings listening to shared dramatic reading. Possibilities include The Jungle Book in the summer and The Christmas Carol during Advent.

Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to read, perform, or attend.

The Literature Guild is Growing

Future possibilities include:

  • Poetry evenings

  • Family read-aloud nights

  • Thematic mini-series (Lent, Advent, virtue studies)

  • Author spotlights

  • Academic lectures

We are cultivating a community shaped by good books.
